Picked up my driveshaft yesterday and I’m pretty happy. Took them like 3 business hours to do the job and it looks good. Kinda wish they’d thrown a coat of paint on it but whatever.

Kinja'd!!!

Cost for all this? $225.

A little expensive, yes, especially since it was probably fine, but supporting local business blah blah blah and quick turnaround... I’m not complaining. The weird ball thing between the u-joint pair was certainly pretty crunchy, so happy to have that replaced at any rate.

Kinja'd!!!

Plus aftermarket shafts (lulz) are a crap shoot anyway. At least I know this one fits.

I briefly thought about throwing some protectors on those grease nipples, but I assume whatever RPMs this thing spins around at at 80MPH would make short work of them.  Ahh well.

Oil seal is out for delivery so unless FedEx returns to their old ways (aka driving by the house and saying no one was home) I should be good to swap out the transfer case output seal, reinstall the drive shaft, and top off the transfer case this evening. Still maintaining a little hope I can get access to a lift but ehh, probably just going with the garage option. It’ll be messy, frustrating, and painful, but at least I don’t have to use up social currency to make it happen.

After that I’ll drop the headliner and see what I can see.

God I hate FedEx. It’s like they get paid to return the next day. I have stood at my door and watched them drive by while receiving notification that I am not home. Unless it’s something large, I have all FedEx sent to the local Walgreen’s.

They used to be really bad about it here but we haven’t had a problem in years :fingers crossed:. Then again I’ve been good about ordering stuff before I need it so.... today would be the day.

How do you like the C30?

So is the C30 fixed, or is it just for parts storage?

C30 needs a new windshield but is otherwise golden. If you’re referring to the track day clutch boiling, that resolved itself once I stopped driving like a lunatic .  I’ll make sure all the fluids get changed on the next oil change though, just to be sure, but the C30 is the one car I try not to work on myself.

I’ve had it for 7 years and I love it. Comfortable, quick, good looking, and the correct number of pedals. It doesn’t get much Oppo time because well... I’ve owned it for 7 years and it doesn’t exactly excite me anymore, but I can’t think of anything I’d want to replace it with so... in my garage it stays.

That’s good, though I’ll claim you should be able to drive like a lunatic without the car becoming unusable (at least until something really breaks).

Ehh the car wasn’t track prepped so I forgive it.  The DOT4 was probably 1-1.5 years old so it wasn’t suited for track use at that point.  Also not sure if the clutch has ever been properly bled (I’d hope so, but I haven’t asked my mechanic yet.) so that would explain why the clutch boiled before the brakes.  Still, I’d rather have my clutch boil before my brakes!  One of those is essential haha.

I’ve wanted an R design one for the longest time. I almost bought one a few years back, but it was an automatic. I liked it enough to still heavily consider buying it.

That two tone 4 bucket seat interior always gets me.  Same with the rear hatch glass.  I like the pre-facelift ones, but the newer ones are growing on me.

C30> Mini.

I thought those things were kinda cool.

Yeah the autos really aren’t bad at all. Polestar tune also makes a huge difference I’m told (mine came with it so I can’t compare). I like the headlights on the pre facelift and the hatch on the post. IIRC there was an in between year that had both but meh haha.
